LEGACY HITS THE LATHE FOR RSD 2018

Sony’s Legacy is the first major to take the shrink wrap off its Record Store Day offerings and it’s quite the whopper of a list: nearly 30 pieces of vinyl and two cassettes.

For the 11th edition of Record Store Day, being held 4/21 at independent record retailers around the globe, Legacy is offering:

AC/DC’s Back In Black; Wu-Tang Clan’s Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) on cassette; Aaliyah’s debut single Back & Forth EP (12”– Purple Vinyl); Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock’s It Takes Two: 30th Anniversary Edition; Circle Jerks’ collection of live performances from the ‘80s, Gig; Cypress Hill’s Black Sunday –Remixes; Bob Dylan & The Grateful Dead’s Dylan & The Dead on red and blue tie-dye vinyl; Eurythmics1984 (For The Love of Big Brother) (U.S. only); a 7” single of Jimi Hendrix’s “Mannish Boyb/w “Trash Man”; Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing: The Remixes on red smoke vinyl; Thelonious Monk’s fourth studio album for Columbia, Monk; a 7” single of Van Morrison & Joey DeFrancesco’s “Close Enough for Jazz” b/w “The Things I Used to Do”; Eddie Murphy: Comedian; Pink Floyd’s The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn in mono; a picture disc of Prodigy’s Keep It Thoro; the previously unreleased Soul Asylum Live From Liberty Lunch, Austin, TX, December 3, 1992; Bruce Springsteen’s Greatest Hits (2LP, individually numbered on red vinyl); and a various artists collection, Dogfish Head Brewery: Music To Drink Beer and Make Love To featuring Teddy Pendergrass, Jeff Buckley, Nina Simone and others.

Making their first-ever appearances on vinyl are The Allman Brothers Band’s Live At The Atlanta Pop Festival, July 3 & 5, 1970 (4LP, individually numbered); Big Audio Dynamite II’s five-track EP On The Road Live ’92; Jeff Buckley’s Live At Sin-é: Legacy Edition (4LP, individually numbered); Johnny Cash’s At Folsom Prison: Legacy Edition (5LP, individually numbered); Hot Tuna’s Live At The New Orleans House (2LP); Living Colour’s Live At CBGB’s, 12.19.89; Kenny LogginsReturn To Pooh Corner (purple swirl vinyl); Johnny Mathis’s I Love My Lady (clear smoke vinyl); music from Elvis Presley’s 1968 “comeback special,” The King in the Ring (2LP, red vinyl); Rage Against The Machine’s Democratic National Convention 2000; and Uncle Tupelo’s No Depression – Demos.

Among other releases announced today are The Grateful Dead’s four-LP Fillmore West, San Francisco, CA 2/27/69 (Rhino Records/Grateful Dead Productions); Jerry Garcia’s fourth solo album, Run For The Roses (ATO/Round Records); a limited edition metal box set from Run The Jewels, The Stay Gold Collectors Jewel Box; ORG Music’s An Evening With Ornette Coleman (Part 2); Ella Fitzgerald’s Ella Live at Zardi’s (Verve) on opaque pink and opaque blue vinyl; Mom & Pop has two from Courtney Barnett—a 12” single with two songs from Courtney’s upcoming LP, and a picture disc edition of the double EP, A Sea of Split Peas; New West has a 2007 live recording from Jason Isbell, Live At Twist And Shout; Select-O-Hits presents Malaco: The Last Soul Company 50 Years of Excellence, an RSD-curated collection of songs on gold vinyl; and ANTI- has three separate Tom Waits colored vinyl double LPs.
