The Top 5 Highest-Grossing Films in America Over the Weekend

This holiday weekend, Disney/Marvel’s feverishly anticipated Black Panther enjoyed the fifth-largest three-day opening ever, pulling in more than $200m. According to revised numbers from Disney, the film finished with about $235m for the four-day stretch—the largest February opening in history. And as it slid past Jurassic World's $234m, it earned the third-largest four-day gross.

Although it's the 18th film from the Marvel universe to be released, it's also the second-largest opening there, behind only 2012's The Avengers ($207m)

1. Black Panther (Buena Vista) $201.8m 4,020/$50,198 avg. (debut)
2. Peter Rabbit (Sony) $17.3m 3,725/$4,631 avg. (week 2)
3. Fifty Shades Freed (Universal) $16.9m 3,768/$4,496 avg. (week 2)
4. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (Sony) $7.9m 2,800/$2,838 avg. (week 9)
5. The 15:17 to Paris (Warner Bros.) $7.7m 3,042/$2,526 avg. (week 2)
