TOP 50 MONEYMAKERS:
TWINKLE, TWINKLE

How’s this for massed star power? The seven acts responsible for pulling in the most moolah during the week ending 2/8—Drake, The Weeknd with Kendrick Lamar, Migos, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars with Cardi B—represent a major chunk of the biggest names in the streaming galaxy, and here they are flying in tight formation, comprising a mighty Top 5.

That Weeknd-Kendrick collab, the latest example of the current trend of singles debuting in the upper reaches of the Song Revenue Chart, is the first of several potential smashes on Kendrick and Top Dawg’s loaded Black Panther soundtrack; while it’ll be two weeks before the set’s chart-topping debut and the film’s opening, both on 2/16, become fully apparent, three more Panther cuts are already in the Top 40.

But let’s put things in perspective: The #2-5 earners “Pray for Me” all brought in between $125k and $140k, respectable most weeks but far below the $366k generated by Drake’s latest. “God’s Plan,” you may recall, debuted on the rev chart two weeks ago with a monumental $850k, and it’s still performing far above the field.

The outlier on the leaderboard is indie artist Bazzi’s “Mine,” which slyly combines hip-hop beats, a creamy pop chorus, a young-love premise and some well-placed, meme-inspiring F-bombs to form an aural snapshot of the sounds that sell today.

Marketshare scoreboard: UMG 54%, SME 23%, WMG 19%, Indies 4%
