LIVE NATION ADDS TO NYC CLUB PORTFOLIO

Two of New York City’s premier clubs, the Bowery Ballroom and the Mercury Lounge, are joining forces with Live Nation.

Michael Rapino’s Live Nation and the clubs’ founder Michael Swier have created a new promotion and booking company, Mercury East Presents, establishing a network of clubs and theaters under one umbrella. Live Nation already owns Irving Plaza, Gramercy Theater, Warsaw and Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk.

“Swier and his team are the total package, delivering industry expertise, relationships, and landmark venues that complement the greater Live Nation portfolio,” said Rapino, President/CEO, Live Nation Entertainment. “Mercury East is the ideal partnership, and will allow Live Nation to bring New York’s residents and visitors more music and events than ever before.”

Live Nation’s move follows this year’s acquisition by AEG of The Bowery Presents, which gave them a strong New York foothold with Terminal 5 and the Music Hall of Williamsburg. AEG is also an owner of Webster Hall.
