U.K. CHARTS: NOEL SCORES THIRD #1

Noel Gallagher has scored a hat trick by hitting #1 on the U.K.'s Official Albums Chart with the third release from his High Flying Birds outfit, Who Built the Moon? (Sour Mash), selling 78k combined week one. Over on the Official Singles Chart, Camila Cabello’s “Havana” (Syco) is the third longest running #1 in Blighty this year.

Who Built the Moon? is the third #1 album for NGHFB: Predecessor Chasing Yesterday sold 89k week one in 2015 and their self-titled set did 122.5k in 2011. Noel is the second Gallagher brother to hit #1 this year—rival Liam did so in October on 103k combined sales of his solo debut, As You Were? (Warner Bros.). When taking into account chart history as Oasis, Who Built the Moon? is Noel’s 10th #1.

Elsewhere, Sam Smith is at #2 with The Thrill of it All (Capitol), followed by Little Mix at #2 with a platinum edition of Glory Days (Syco) rising from #46.

A deluxe edition of Elvis Presley’s Christmas album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which Sony Music CG released in October, rises from outside the Top 100 to #6, and Michael Ball & Alfie Boe are down to #5 with Together Again (Decca).Violinist Andre Rieu is at #7 with Amore (Polydor) and Elbow’s retrospective, The Best Of (Polydor), is #11.

It was a tight call, but “Havana” has scored its fifth week at the top of the Official Singles Chart. On the list of 2017’s longest running #1s, the track sits behind Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” (Atlantic), which spent 13 consecutive weeks at #1 earlier this year, and “Despacito” (Polydor), which did so for six.

Rita Ora is just 1k sales behind with “Anywhere”—the second single to be released under her new deal with Atlantic. Sheeran’s “Perfect” (Atlantic) is at #3, and the track could very well rise higher next week thanks to a duet version with Beyonce that landed today.

Marshmello f/Khalid’s “Silence” (Ministry of Sound) is down one place to #4, followed by a new Top 5 entrant in “Man’s Not Hot” by Island urban act Big Shaq. This week’s highest new entry is James Arthur with “Naked” (Syco) at #11.
