YOUTUBE'S FOUL BALL

Noters noting YouTubeTV signage in virtually every shot of Game One of the World Series, as part of the Google-owned platform’s highly touted deal with Major League Baseball/Fox to give a giant look to its play for cable subscribers. Though the deal generated much ink in the business press, its cost wasn’t disclosed by any of the parties.

Just how much did YouTube peel for this branding opportunity, on top of the $35+ some reports say it’s spent for every single subscriber? One thing’s for sure: For what it cost to be on the air during one fouled-back breaking ball, YT could’ve ponied up a big check to music rights holders instead. But hey, fuck music, right?
