Fifty-eight people are dead and more than 500 have been wounded after a lone gunman opened fire on the crowd during the Route 91 Harvest Festival on the Las Vegas Strip Sunday night. News reports are describing it as the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history. Jason Aldean and his band, who were performing at the time, were unharmed. The FBI is asking for anyone with videos or photos concerning the shooting to call 1-800-CALLFBI or (800) 225-5324.
Country Aircheck has started a Confirmed Safe list for people involved in the Route 91 Harvest Festival.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has opened up a family reunification center at its headquarters at 400 S. Martin L. King Blvd. in Building B.
Sen. John McCain tweeted a phone number to use to locate people: 1-866-535-5654.
The American Red Cross has set up blood drives at various locations in Las Vegas over the next several days.
Maren Morris posted her song “Dear Hate” f/Vince Gill online and pledged to give any proceeds to the Music City Cares fund.
President Trump responded this morning with a statement he read at the White House: “Our unity cannot be shattered by evil, our bonds cannot be broken by violence, and though we feel such great anger at the senseless murder of our fellow citizens, it is our love that defines us today.”
Trump said he would travel to Las Vegas to visit police, first responders, survivors and victims’ families on Wednesday.
Neil Portnow of the Recording Academy released a statement reflecting industry sentiment:
The Recording Academy is deeply saddened by the unthinkable tragedy that occurred last night in Las Vegas. As members of the music community, we will come together as we always do in defiance of this senseless act, and provide love and support to those affected. The Recording Academy’s charity, MusiCares, will be working closely with the music industry to provide trauma counseling and support to those in need. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this harrowing time.

Scooter Braun, who has been active in gathering musicians to promote healing and raise money after recent tragedies, responded with a lengthy tweet.

Luke Combs, who performed at the festival just hours before the attack and was scheduled to tape Kimmel tonight, was asked by the host to perform a song in remembrance. He chose his song "Used to You." Plans are still in place to record two other songs for airing next month alongside the CMA Awards.
