MJ AUGMENTS REALITY WITH SCREAM

The first-ever Michael Jackson Augmented Reality experience launched this morning with the release of the compilation Scream (Epic/Legacy Recordings). Get out your phone, open Shazam and prepare to point it at a Michael poster.

The booklet in the CD/vinyl set includes a poster that Shazam users can point at and activate the Scream AR. It is Shazam’s first global AR initiative and the first time Shazam has made an AR experience integrated with a CD or vinyl release available to its users.

Billboards and posters for Scream are going up in major cities worldwide today that include a Shazam logo that can be used to trigger a second augmented reality experience inspired by the album’s cover artwork.

Sony and the Jackson Estate worked with the multi-platform creative studio Flight School to create the experience, which incorporates audio from the Scream bonus track, “Blood on the Dance Floor X Dangerous.” The track is a five-song mashup from remixer The White Panda.

In addition to Scream, Steve Aoki has created a remix of “Thriller”—the Steve Aoki Midnight Hour Remix—that is being released today as a standalone single. It's also part of a 69-song Jackson playlist on Spotify. And remember, Thriller fans, Halloween is just 32 days away.
