WILL JT AND JAY-Z TEAM UP FOR SUPER BOWL HALFTIME?

Informed sources say discussions are underway for Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z to perform together at halftime during Super Bowl LII (52) at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on 2/4.

It would be a huge look for RCA superstar Timberlake’s forthcoming album, due in early 2018.

JT and Jay-Z appeared together on the former’s smash “Suit and Tie” and the latter’s huge “Holy Grail,” and joined forces on the top-grossing Legends of the Summer Tour in 2013.

Timberlake's 20/20 Experience Part 1 debuted at #1 in March 2013 with 980k; it was the year's biggest debut and release; it’s racked up nearly 3.6m SPS. Part 2 hit later that year, bowing at #1 with 348k. The Complete Experience set, meanwhile, has amassed about 2.7m SPS. The accompanying tour earned more than $230m in ticket sales.

JT was of course part of the infamous halftime “wardrobe malfunction” at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004. In case you’re too stoned to remember, Timberlake tore away Janet Jackson’s costume during the show and—whether it was intentional or not—the exposure of her bare breast on global TV was treated as an apocalyptic event. The FCC fined CBS a record $550k, though this was later voided in court.

Though our moral guardians promised in the immediate aftermath that neither artist would ever perform at another Super Bowl, only Jackson was subsequently blacklisted by the NFL and not considered for any subsequent halftime bookings, while Timberlake was apparently let off the hook.

After the Grammy snubs that saw 20/20 and its singles left out of top-category nominations, Timberlake has since shown little inclination to perform at the Grammys, which in 2018 will go down on 1/28 in NYC.

Speaking of wardrobe malfunctions, these pants used to fit, we swear.
