ACM DOLES OUT HONORS

The Academy of Country Music presented the 11th annual ACM Honors Wednesday night, honoring artists such as Kelsea Ballerini, Dolly Parton and George Strait, studio musicians and venues such as Ryman Auditorium, where the event was held.

Among the performances, Hillary Scott and Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman sang “Little Rock” in tribute to Reba McEntire, who received the Mae Boren Axton Service Award; Gene Weed Milestone Award honoree Kelsea Ballerini performed “Legends” and a medley of her hits; and Chris Stapleton and Alan Jackson paid tribute to Cliffie Stone Icon Award winner Strait.

Maren Morris performed “Galveston” in tribute to the late Glen Campbell, Brad Paisley performed “My Tennessee Mountain Home” in tribute to Gary Haber Lifting Lives Award recipient Parton and Thomas Rhett sang a medley of hits by Bob Kingsley, who also received the Mae Boren Axton Service Award.

Little Big Town did Lori McKenna’s “When Someone Stops Loving You” before presenting her with the Songwriter of the Year Award.

Other performers included Chris Janson, Toby Keith and Nashville stars Clare Bowen and Charles Esten. Portions of the event will be seen during a two-hour special that will air 9/15 on CBS.
