ECLIPSE HAS LIPS FLAPPING

Attention, sky-watchers: Capitol Records has been live-blogging today's eclipse from the roof of its storied tower, which you can check out here.

Meanwhile, the cosmic event has captured the pop-cultural imagination in a big way, with playlists and other special content abounding. And, of course, Bonnie Tyler's pop juggernaut "Total Eclipse of the Heart" is now #1 at iTunes (with the radio edit at #14).

In the hours leading up to the total solar eclipse, streams of Tyler’s 1983 hit saw a 2,859% increase on Spotify in the U.S., compared to the same time two weeks ago. Globally, the song’s streams increased by 827% on Spotify.

The iTunes Top 100 included The Beatles “Here Comes the Sun,” Pink Floyd's “Eclipse,” CCR's “Bad Moon Rising” and Manfred Mann's version of Bruce Springsteen’s “Blinded By the Light.” Bill Withers' “Ain’t No Sunshine” is #102. On the album side, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is #4.
