40 years after the King's passing, Spotify is celebrating the profound influence of Elvis Presley—and tracking his ongoing popularity.
With its This Is: Elvis Presley playlist (see below), the streaming behemoth offers a crash course in his work.
And with its capacious data-crunching, it reveals the top countries and cities for Elvis streaming. Surprise: The U.S. isn't even in the Top 20. Sweden is #1, followed by the U.K. The remaining territories and Top 20 cities also appear below. #1 on that tally is—wait for it—Glasgow.
It should be noted that Elvis listening was "normalized"—his streams were divided by all streams in each location.
Presley's songs have been streamed more than 1 billion times, with top track "Can't Help Falling in Love" earning 90m+ streams.
As is the case with so many Spotify playlists, this one is best enjoyed with a hearty peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwich.
