The Top 5 Highest Grossers

The two highest-grossing films in America this weekend belonged to Warner Bros., as horror flick Annabelle: Creation bowed at #1 with approximately $35m and the Christopher Nolan-directed hit Dunkirk followed with about $11m in its fourth week out. The latter just surpassed a total gross of $150m.

Further down on the chart, The Weinstein Co.'s well-reviewed Wind River jumped into the Top 20, up nearly 300% compared to last weekend, as it expanded into 45 theaters (+41). Its total is now approaching half a million, technically with two weeks under its belt.

2. Dunkirk (Warner Bros.) $11m 3,762/$3,032 avg. (week 4)
3. The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature (Open Road) $8.9m 4,003/$2,232 avg. (debut)
4. The Dark Tower (Sony) $7.9m 3,451/$2,282 avg. (week 2)
5. The Emoji Movie (Sony) $6.6m 3,219/$2,052 avg. (week 3)
