U.K. CHARTS: ARCADE FIRE LIGHT IT UP

Arcade Fire have hit #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with Everything Now on 36k combined sales—awarding Sony’s Columbia its fourth albums top spot in Blighty this year. Over at singles, UMG’s “Despacito” (Polydor) holds onto #1 for an 11th week, despite having an accelerated stream to sales ratio of 300:1 applied.

Everything Now is the third #1 in Blighty for Arcade Fire, and the first album under their new deal with Sony. Ed Sheeran is at #2 with ÷ (Atlantic) on around 18k sales this week, followed by Rag’n’Bone Man's Human (Columbia). Last week’s chart-topper, Lana Del Rey with Lust For Life (Polydor), falls to #4, while Passenger with The Boy Cried Wolf (Black Crow) is the second highest new entry at #5.

Alice Cooper ends the week at #6 with Paranormal (Ear Music), while The Pet Shop Boys are #29, #30 and #33 with Parlophone reissues of Nightlife, Release and Fundamental, respectively.

On the Official Singles Chart, the midweek update didn’t include Spotify streams so you’ll see a shake-up of the expected running order here. Despite appearing at #4 midweek, Sony’s Spanish remix of Enrique Iglesias’ “Subeme La Radio” (RCA) featuring Sean Paul and 2016 U.K. X Factor winner Matt Terry has ended the week at #12. This week’s highest new entry is “Boys” (Atlantic) by Charli XCX at #42.

Meanwhile, “Despacito” is now one of the U.K.’s longest-reigning chart-toppers, with just six others spending longer at #1. “Wild Thoughts” (Black Butter/We the Best) by DJ Khaled is less than 2.5k combined sales behind at #2, while “Feels" (Columbia) from Calvin Harris f/Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean has risen one place to #3. “Unforgettable” (Black Butter) by French Montana f/Swae Lee moves down to #4, followed by “Mama” (Virgin EMI) by Jonas Blue.
