YOUR WEEKEND
BOX OFFICE

Three debuts made the Top 5 of the highest-grossing films in America this weekend, with the Christopher Nolan-directed Dunkirk (which, yes, includes a performance from Harry Styles) leading the pack at #1. The Warner Bros. blockbuster, which currently boasts a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score, became the first non-franchise film to top the box office this summer.

Meanwhile, Valerian—the cast of which features Cara Delevingne and Rihanna—seriously disappointed, earning a 54% at Rotten Tomatoes and not coming anywhere near its approximate budget of $200m.

1. Dunkirk (Warner Bros.) $50m 3,720/$13,575 avg. (debut)
2. Girls Trip (Universal) $30m 2,591/$11,722 avg. (debut)
3. Spider-Man: Homecoming (Sony) $22m 4,130/$5,329 avg. (week 3)
4. War for the Planet of the Apes (Fox) $20m 4,100/$4,976 avg. (week 2)
5. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (STX) $17m 3,553/$4,790 avg. (debut)
