ZEDECK ZIPPING TO UTA AS HEAD OF MUSIC (UPDATE)

Live Nation music exec David Zedeck will be leaving to take the post of Head of Music at UTA. He'll start there on 7/31.

Zedeck, most recently EVP and President of Global Talent and Artist Development at LN, is rumored to be possibly bringing more than one big act with him to his new post.

The release on Zedeck's appointment notes that Neil Warnock, founder of The Agency Group before UTA picked it up in 2015, "continues in an important leadership role within the music division."

With its dominant position in the live business, Live Nation is not expected to suffer any strong effects from Zedeck's departure, as the company enjoys a strong second tier of worldwide management under the leadership of Michael Rapino, and has been notching record earnings over the past few years.

The move is a big get for UTA chief Jeremy Zimmer, to whom Zedeck will report and who has spent the last year trying to rebuild his agency's music department.

"We are excited to have a professional of David's standing lead our team of great agents and executives,” said Zimmer. "His vision of full-service representation meshes exactly with where we have been taking the department. His track record of developing artists, his passion for music, and his understanding of how to use all the resources of an agency make David the perfect leader for our future."

Zedeck is known for his strong relationships with artists; this move marks his return to the agency world he left in 2012, when he came aboard Live Nation from CAA. His clients there included Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, One Direction, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and The Jonas Brothers, among others.

"Joining UTA during a period when its music business is accelerating is an amazing opportunity," said Zedeck. "UTA has a commitment to developing artists and helping them create platforms to share their music with fans around the world. Throughout my career I have been dedicated to working with artists to grow their global audience, so I'm very excited to return to the agency business to lead UTA's music group."
