ONE LOVE CONCERT HELPS RAISE £10M (UPDATE)

UPDATE: The Ariana Grande-led One Love concert in Manchester was an emotionally cathartic event for survivors of the prior attack, fans worldwide and a United Kingdom still reeling from Saturday's attacks in London. One highlight was Oasis singer Liam Gallagher dedicating the band's "Live Forever" to survivors of the Manchester bombing (with Coldplay's Chris Martin on guitar), and Grande wrapped up the show with a soaring, tearful performance of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." More than £10 million ($12m+) has been raised for victims and their families, £2 million (more than $2.57m) from the show alone.

Airing on BBC One, it was the U.K.’s most-watched TV program of the year. According to overnights.tv, TV viewership averaged 10.9m viewers as nearly half of all TVs in use were tuned to the concert. More than 22.5m people watched at least three minutes of the broadcast.

Online, the concert broke BBC iPlayer’s live viewing records with 1.08m requests to watch, topping the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympics 2012. It’s now the biggest non-sporting live program in BBC iPlayer’s history.

Grande is also raising money for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund by donating proceeds from the sale of her single "One Last Time" (Republic). The song is #4 at iTunes in the U.S. and #2 on the U.K. midweeks chart.

With tensions even higher in the wake of Saturday's London attacks, fans have gathered in Manchester for the One Love concert led by Ariana Grande (seen above with U.K. icons Take That) and featuring an all-star lineup. Security was naturally tight, with some 55k attending. Grande manager Scooter Braun tweeted out the following message:

Grande, who visited injured fans from the Manchester show in the hospital on Friday (6/2), tweeted on Saturday that she was "praying for London."

Several attendees of One Love told the BBC they were still feeling afraid but most expressed the belief that the show was an important display of resolve. Stay tuned for updates and check the live stream below.
