HITS COMMUNITY ROUNDUP (UPDATE)

Respected publicity exec Laura Swanson, who left her job as Epic SVP Media & Strategic Development following the dismissal of her longtime boss, L.A. Reid, is now a free agent.

Laura started her career in the 1990s at A&M, where she rose to VP, then held the same title at Interscope before heading to Arista in 1999, when she began her association with Reid. She followed him to IDJ in 2004, continued to head the department following Reid’s 2011 move to Epic and rejoined him there in 2014. Call or text Laura at 917-710-8266…

Also entering free agency is veteran music journo Craig Marks, who was abruptly let go as Executive Editor of Billboard last week. “Don't hesitate to feel sorry for me and reach out w/ lucrative professional opportunities,” Craig tweeted on 5/19. He got the news right after returning from a road trip in which he introduced his new hire Hannah Karp, who left The Wall Street Journal for the Bible, to West Coast record company executives.

Craig, whose prior gigs included Spin and Blender, does have something going for him. I Want My MTV: The Uncensored Story of the Music Video Revolution, which he co-authored is being turned into a movie...

After a 20-year tenure at MTV Networks, Gina Esposito has left the company and is relocating with her family to L.A. “My two kids seem to be getting bigger and bigger and we quickly outgrew our NYC apartment,” she reports. “So with all the changes going on it seemed like a good time to make one myself.” She intends to enjoy the sunshine and avoid us. Since you’ll probably want to buy her a margarita, Gina can be reached at (310) 994-8204 or [email protected].

Longtime radio programming and marketing guru Michael Chase has exited Star 94.1 in Atlanta. You can reach him at 404-388-1715…

We’ll end this roundup on an upbeat note: A&R exec Dave Bason and fiancée Marisa Torbert welcomed Ruby Simone Bason to the family Monday at 4am following a 48-hour labor. They’re wiped out—especially Marisa—but overjoyed to be sharing their home with the 6 lb. 7 oz. Ruby, who “has lungs like Robert Plant,” according to the new dad.

Dave played music throughout the ordeal in hopes of coaxing the baby out of the womb. The album that did the trick, interestingly, was Poguetry in Motion. Go figure…
