BMG MAKES WORLDWIDE WAVES

BMG—the integrated music rights company that houses music publishing and recordings under one roof—is celebrating a new milestone, scoring four different #1 albums in four different European territories with four different artists in just seven days.

A week after the BMG-repped Texas topped the album chart in France with their latest album, Jump On Board, hip-hop's Kontra K topped the German album chart with Gute Nacht, Roxette co-founder Per Gessle went #1 in Sweden with his new solo album, En Vacker Natt, and Francesco Gabbani (pictured) nabbed the top spot in Italy with Magellano.

According to a statement from the company, the achievement "comes just three years after the company signalled its intention to be as successful in recordings as it is in music publishing where it is already the world’s fourth biggest player."

“This is clear evidence of the strength and depth of BMG’s recordings business," shared BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch. "Year-by-year we are demonstrating that there is no achievement in the record business which is beyond us. Whether renowned international artists, or local artists singing in local languages, for the first time in decades, there is a viable global alternative to the established players.”

If you'll recall, BMG scored a U.S. #1 last year with blink-182's California. Blondie's Pollinator, however, just dropped on 5/5 and is set to chart this Friday. As we announced earlier today, Blondie will be the first act performing as part of Amazon’s Prime Live Events program as it launches in London with performances from BMG acts.
