THE 2017 IVOR NOMS ARE IN

The nominations for the 62nd Ivor Awards are in, with songs by Adele, Laura Mvula and Nile Rodgers, Michael Kiwanuka, Mura Masa, Skepta and Coldplay set to battle it out on 5/18 in London. Mike McCormack’s Universal Music Publishing U.K. has the most mentions with interest in six entries.

The ceremony exists to honour excellence in songwriting and composing and is created by the British Association of Songwriters, Composers & Authors (BASCA). It takes place at the Grosvenor House in May, where other awards presented will include International Achievement, Lifetime Achievement, Outstanding Song Collection, Outstanding Contribution to Music and Songwriter of the Year.

Behind UMPG with four entries in the nominees list is Mike Smith’s Warner/Chappell, followed by Kobalt with three, while Guy Moot's Sony/ATV has two.

The Album Award is a battle between Michael Kiwunka’s Love & Hate (Kobalt/Warner/Chappell), Skeleton Tree by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (Kobalt) and The Dreaming Room by Laura Mvula (UMPG).

Best Song Musically and Lyrically will either be Kiwanuka’s “Black Man in a White World,” “Overcome” by Mvula f/Nile Rodgers or “Telemore” (BMG) by Mystery Jets. Best Contemporary Song is a battle between “Love$ick” by Mura Masa f/A$AP Rocky (Sony/ATV/Ministry of Sound), “Man” (Warner/Chappell/UMPG) by Skepta or “Sexual” (Warner/Chappell/Kobalt) by NEIKED.
