Hey CBS, you should be dancing. The network’s Stayin' Alive: A Grammy Salute to the Music of The Bee Gees dominated Easter Sunday television, emerging as the #1 broadcast for total viewers (10.26m) and in key demos.
It was the only show of the night to pull in more than 1m adults in the18-49 demo, as more than 1.5m people in the demo tuned in.
Congrats are in order for show producer Ken Ehrlich and CBS’ Jack Sussman—and they may well have found the magical date for their Grammy-branded shows on CBS.
The Bee Gees special is the fourth special from the Sussman- Ehrlich-Neil Portnow team and the second highest-rated, behind only their Beatles tribute, which pulled in 13.9m viewers in February 2014. They also produced two shows in 2015—a Stevie Wonder tribute watched by 7.49m in February and a Frank Sinatra at 100 special that pulled in 8.74m in December. The Easter airdate gets them out of the way of significant sports and specials competition.
The special helped return The Bee Gees onto the iTunes chart as well. The soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever is #10, The Record—Their Greatest Hits is #23 and The Ultimate Bee Gees is at #30; all titles are now housed within the Capitol Music Group/UMe.
