PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORDE

With her long-awaited Lava/Republic full-length on the way, singer/songwriter Lorde is the subject of a lengthy and gorgeously written profile by Jonah Weiner in today's New York Times. The piece chronicles (among other topics) the creation of the forthcoming Melodrama, Lorde's process as a writer, her creative chemistry with Jack Antonoff, her synesthesia (a condition that causes, in her case, sounds to appear to her as colors), her admiration for Kate Bush, Katy Perry, Raymond Carver and a 24-hour NYC diner called The Flame (which, our own New York correspondent notes, serves excellent buckwheat pancakes). Check it out.
