MACKAY TAKES STARRING FILM/TV ROLE FOR STRINGER

As previously rumored, Tom Mackay will step into the post of President, Sony Music Film and Television A&R, reporting to new Sony Music chief Rob Stringer, who made the announcement.

In this L.A.-based gig, the former Republic West Coast EVP/GM's role will include film and TV partnerships, including soundtracks. In addition to his expertise and relationships, Mackay brings to Sony an extensive wardrobe of green jackets.

“Tom is a wonderfully accomplished executive who understands how to create connections between music, film and television," proclaimed Stringer. "We are delighted that he is joining Sony Music to help us as we look to create new opportunities for artists through innovation and growth in our visual entertainment initiatives.”

“I would like to sincerely thank Rob for creating this new role for me," declared Mackay. "Representing Sony Music’s iconic labels and artists across the entire film and television landscape is a tremendous honor and responsibility. I look forward to working alongside everyone within the Sony Music family in creating new and exciting opportunities for our artists in this medium.”

During his tenure at Republic, where he served from its inception in 1998, Mackay played a key role in the label's successful partnership with TV's The Voice and such soundtrack hits as the Fifty Shades and Hunger Games series, Sing, The Walking Dead and plenty more.
