2PAC CAFE OPENS IN NYC FOR 3 DAYS

More than 20 years ago, Tupac Shakur sketched out a plan for a restaurant that would specialize in Southern fare. For three days starting Friday, restaurateur John Seymour and Nas will make it a reality on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

Powamekka Café will offer the food he loved—meatloaf, gumbo and his cousin Jamala’s fried chicken wings—in a setting filled with a collection of photos, poetry and music memorabilia from his archives. The opening is timed to coincide with Shakur’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Friday.

The Estate of Tupac Shakur and Universal Music Group’s merchandise company Bravado will be offering limited-edition apparel and merchandise at the Sweet Chick restaurant at 178 Ludlow St. For reservations, click here.

“Powamekka Café will offer his fans a new and personal way to reconnect with him through his passion for food and the restaurant he dreamed of opening,” said Bravado’s Mat Vlasic. “It’s our duty to create opportunities for our artists to fulfill their creative vision and give their fans new ways to engage with them and their music.”
