Digital performance rights company SoundExchange has added Richard Conlon to its staff as Chief External Affairs Officer.
Conlon will serve as SoundExchange’s corporate communications point person and manage the company’s relationships with stakeholders and constituents. He will report to President and CEO Michael Huppe.
“Coordinating the efforts of our external-facing departments will help us maximize value as we navigate and improve the digital environment. Richard's track record in corporate positioning, strategy and service development will add valuable assets to our executive team," Huppe said.
Most recently, Conlon’s worked as a senior advisor to upper management at music publishers, labels and other organizations, with an emphasis on corporate development in the digital intellectual property economy. Prior to that, he was a senior executive at BMI for more than two decades, helping launch their digital rights licensing division. He’s also worked as an exec at Viacom and TLC.
The envelope containing news of Conlon's appointment was briefly mixed up with a red one that had the wrong Best Picture inside; an investigation is pending.
