Generally speaking, an Oscar win is used to push for more box office or DVD sales, but today, Interscope is taking the rare opportunity to put a performance from the show on sale. And no, it’s not a duet between Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
The medley of songs from La La Land that John Legend performed on the Academy Awards have been released as a download. The studio version of Oscar-winner “City of Stars” and “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)” features vocals by Legend, piano by composer Justin Hurwitz and a live orchestra arranged by Hurwitz. Hurwitz also won the Oscar for Best Score.
Separately, Interscope released on Friday La La Land: The Complete Musical Experience, which includes the film’s soundtrack, score and previously unreleased tracks.
