AMAZON GETS RICH

Amazon has further ramped up its aggressive move into music with the hiring of Big Machine Label Group SVP Sales, Marketing & Interactive Kelly Rich as Senior Label Relations Manager, Nashville. She’ll report to Head of Label Relations Nicole Lund.

BMLG ruler Scott Borchetta looked back at Rich’s contributions in the announcement. “Kelly and I have been working on and executing big marketing ideas since the late ’90s with DreamWorks Nashville,” he noted. “In late 2006, when Big Machine was just past its first year of operation, we jumped at the opportunity to hire Kelly to lead our sales and marketing team right as Taylor [Swift]’s debut album was being released. From that multi-million selling release to our latest Reba McEntire album release, Kelly has been a critical part of every win. I look forward to continuing to work very closely with Kelly on many, many more incredible marketing initiatives for Big Machine Label Group artists.”

Rich waxed philosophical in her quote: “Every chapter of your life’s story must come to an end so that you can start the next. The Big Machine Label Group has been such an important part of my life these last 10 years and I will always remember and celebrate our victories. It truly takes a village, and I know everyone on the BMLG team feels the same about the incredible impact we have made on the industry and the exciting history we have made together.”

Her achievements include helping build a social-media fanbase of 75m+ for the roster as a whole, and working with key physical and online retailers to earn artists a major marketing presence through multiple media platforms.

Rich has 27 years’ experience in the biz, having held posts at Western Merchandisers, BMG, Arista Nashville, DreamWorks and UMG Nashville, where she was VP Sales.
