KATY BAR THE DOOR

At Sir Lucian Grainge's big pre-Grammy showcase brunch in L.A., Capitol superstar Katy Perry commemorates 10 years at the label by accepting a plaque from His Royal Highness, label chief Steve Barnett and the plaque-holding guy. Later, everyone went in search of hidden disco balls.

The plaque includes all sorts of non-alternative facts about Katy's achievements in the marketplace, namely: 16m+ albums, 125m+ tracks, 18b+ streams and 40m+ adjusted albums worldwide.

It also includes several alternative facts; for example, the Capitol Tower is made entirely of repurposed cassingles from the Roy Lott era!

In other Katy news, Spotify reports that her new single, “Chained to the Rhythm” f/Skip Marley, scored north of 3m streams on the service on day one, which its data nerds say makes it the biggest first-day streaming achievement by a solo female. The Capitol megastar will be performing the song (which is also currently top 5 at iTunes) during the Grammys. In addition to her per-stream royalty, the company’s Swedish HQ will be sending Perry a complimentary shipment of lingonberries.
