A DECISIVE CHART STORY

Big Sean sees a big bow this week, as his I Decided. (G.O.O.D./Def Jam) debuts at #1 on the HITS Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with 156k.

Reba McEntire has the next largest debut, selling 50k of her Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope (Rockin’ R/BMLG) and rounding out the Top 5.

And of course, Interscope’s Lady Gaga is having a real moment. Following her epic Super Bowl halftime show, 2016’s Joanne re-enters at #2 with 67k and 2008’s The Fame re-enters at #4 with 52k, while 2011’s Born This Way appears at #29.

Speaking of bumps from televised performances, Def Jam’s Alessia Cara—who performed on SNL last weekend—sees her premier full-length, Know-It-All, re-enter at #31.

With just days until The Grammys, Album of the Year contenders Adele and Beyoncé enjoy consumption boosts, as 25 (XL/Columbia) rises to #21, up 30% and Lemonade (Columbia) re-enters at #33, up 44%.

When it comes to SPS marketshare, UMG leads with 59%. Then there’s WMG at #2 with 24% and SME at #3 with 15%.

Over on the Album Sales Chart, Big Sean is #1 with 65k. There, however, Reba’s record is #2 with 48k.

As for Gaga’s standings, Joanne goes #40-3, while The Fame can be found at #7 and Born This Way waltzes back in at #26.

WMG’s Original Cast Recording for Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen debuts at #4. Also, Kari Jobe’s gospel set, The Garden (Sparrow), makes its entrance at #10.

And due to a surge at Target, Garth BrooksThe Ultimate Collection (Pearl) re-enters on this chart at #14.

The results from the Album Sales marketshare battle look similar to the SPS rankings. There, UMG is #1 with 59%, while WMG and SME follow with 24% and 13%, respectively.

What will you see on the next chart? Well, the 50 Shades Darker soundtrack is streeting this week via Republic, along with albums from Concord labelmates Alison Krauss and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, IngroovesThievery Corporation and Big Machine’s Brett Young.

One should also expect next week’s chart to reflect the noteworthy Grammy moments… that is of course assuming that the entire music industry doesn’t schmooze itself to death by then. Good luck out there, weasels.
