BRIT AWARDS NOMS COME IN

The nominations for the BRIT Awards are in. Among the leading nominees: Little Mix, Skepta, Craig David, Michael Kiwanuka and Rag’n’Bone Man, who’s already secured the Critics’ Choice prize. Jonas Blue and the late David Bowie take two noms apiece. See below for a complete list.

Jason Iley’s Sony U.K. has equaled its best year ever with 23 nods. RCA leads the label pack in noms with nine, while Columbia and SYCO take six apiece (add one more each for Insanity and Relentless). Max Lousada’s Warner U.K. follows with 16 and David Joseph’s UMG U.K. is close third with 15.

Warner’s Parlophone imprint has six as does Atlantic/Asylum, Warner Bros two, with 14th Floor and ADA (that distributes indie Because Music) mentioned once. Universal’s Virgin EMI has seven, Polydor has five and Island three. In the indie list are XL twice, self-released act Stormzy, Secretly Group and Kobalt.

“I would like to congratulate our labels and especially all of our artists, each and every one who is nominated—we are all very fortunate to be working with such incredible talent,” Iley proclaimed. “Each and every day is a privilege to be working with such exceptional and creative people. 2016 has been a remarkable year and they all thoroughly deserve this recognition.”

The BRITS show will take place at London’s O2 Arena on 2/22 and be broadcast on ITV in the U.K. The 1975, Little Mix and Emeli Sandé are set to perform.
