Beyoncé ties Barbra Streisand for the most Record of the Year noms by a female artist. The nom for "Formation" is Beyoncé's fifth (counting one with Destiny's Child). Streisand's five noms include a duet with Neil Diamond.
Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris were both nominated for Best New Artist. This marks the first time in Grammy history that two country artists were nominated in this key category in the same year.
Adele's 25 is nominated for Album of the Year. The singer's previous album, 21, won in this category five years ago. This marks the first time that an artist's follow-up to an Album of the Year winner has been nominated in this category since Bob Dylan's Love And Theft (the follow-up to Time Out Of Mind) was a 2001 nominee.
Twenty One Pilots is the first rock group or duo to receive a Record of the Year nom since Imagine Dragons was nominated for "Radioactive" three years ago. Twenty One Pilots is nominated for "Stressed Out."
"Hello," which Adele co-wrote with Greg Kurstin, is nominated for Song of the Year. A different song with the same title, by Lionel Richie, was nominated in this category 32 years ago. This marks the first time in Grammy history that two different songs with the same title have been nominated in this category.
Lukas Graham was nominated for Record and Song of the Year for "7 Years," but was passed over for a Best New Artist nom. Lorde experienced the same fate three years ago when her smash "Royals" was nominated for Record and Song, but she was nixed for a New Artist nom.
Adele and Beyoncé are just the third and fourth female artists to receive nominations in each of the "Big Three" categories—Record, Album and Song of the Year—twice. Adele previously achieved this feat five years ago. Beyoncé did it seven years ago. They follow Mariah Carey (1990 and 2005) and Taylor Swift (2009 and 2015).
Barbra Streisand receives her 11th nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Only Tony Bennett has amassed more nominations in this category (15). The big difference: Bennett has won in the category 13 times. Streisand has never won in this category—and hasn't won in any category in 30 years. Give a diva a break!
