Led by Disney/Marvel blockbuster Doctor Strange, three debuts topped the domestic box office this weekend. Strange scored a whopping $85m, while Fox/DreamWorks animation Trolls and Lionsgate's Hacksaw Ridge, which tells the true story of Medal of Honor recipient Desmond Doss, followed with approximately $46m and $15m, respectively.

All three films opened to strong reviews; Strange earned a 90% at Rotten Tomatoes, while Trolls—the film responsible for the creation of Justin Timberlake's megahit, "Can't Stop the Feeling"—got a 73% and Hacksaw—directed by Mel Gibson—got an 86%.

Strange now has the second biggest opening for an intro to a single-character-driven Marvel film in the company's history. The only thing bigger was Iron Man, which earned around $99m in 2010.

Meanwhile, in limited release, A24's Moonlight continues to kick ass. The film, which has a 98% at Rotten Tomatoes, upped its theater count from 36 to 83 this weekend and pulled in a solid $1.3m. Even the N.Y. Times' A.O. Scott thinks it could be one of the best pictures of the year.
