MARKETSHARE AT THE THREE-QUARTER POLE: MAJOR LABELS

The Order of battle among the Big Three seems all but set in stone, while the label competition once again matches up the two most dominant companies of recent years.

Rob Stringer’s Columbia is #1 in SPS share, with Adele, Beyoncé and The Chainsmokers leading the charge—but Adele’s decision to withhold 25 from all the streaming services until May and Beyoncé’s Tidal exclusive on Lemonade lowered the label’s ceiling in the streaming sector. Monte Lipman’s Republic is out in front in streaming share, with Drake as his alpha dog.

Cameron Strang’s Warner Bros. Records is #3 in SPS share, thanks in part to its rich catalogs, including Prince and Bowie. Edge and Corson’s RCA holds the #3 position in streaming share thanks to hit singles from Justin Timberlake, G-Eazy, Sia, ZAYN and P!nk. John Janick’s IGA is #4 in both SPS and streams, while Steve Barnett’s CMG continues to battle through an off-cycle year, holding the #5 spot in both metrics.
