MARY J. BLIGE GETS HILLARY'S "411"

Mary J Blige, nine-time Grammy winner and one of R&B music's greatest treasures, has launched a new interview show on Apple Music called "The 411."

And her first booking was someone most major talk shows would die to get: Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Blige herself came up with the questions for the 30-minute interview, which featured a lot of Oprah-style hand-holding with the usually reticent candidate and managed to truly humanize her during the talk, with a soft overall tone that was full of female-centric feels, right down to the fresh fruit on the coffee table.

Their conversation ranged from religious faith to family relationships and breaking the glass ceiling; but at one point Mary even broke out into song with a verse from a Bruce Springsteen ballad called "American Skin (41 Shots)" that successfully delivered a very emotional point about the issue of police brutality, in a question framed around how Clinton would handle it as President.

But perhaps the most significant aspect of this interview is how clearly it signals new territory for content offerings from the streaming service. Will we see more television on Apple Music in the future? Well, since there's already word about a scripted series called "Vital Signs" being produced by Dr. Dre, it's safe to say you can probably count on it.
