The Top 5 Highest-Grossing Films in America Over the Weekend

Sony's Western remake, The Magnificent Seven, was the highest-grossing film in America this weekend, earning a mediocre $35m, which is particularly unfortunate considering its $108m budget. It may have boasted a strong cast, but even that wasn't enough to save the film from a 62% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Warner Bros.' family-oriented animation, Storks, followed, debuting at #2 with $22m.

It's worth noting that this is the fifth weekend in a row that the Top 12 earned less than $100m combined.

1. The Magnificent Seven (Sony) $35m 3,674/$9,526 avg. (debut)
2. Storks (Warner Bros.) $22m 3,922/$5,560 avg. (debut)
3. Sully (Warner Bros.) $14m 3,955/$3,497 avg. (week 3)
4. Bridget Jones's Baby (Universal) $4.5m 2,930/$1,543 avg. (week 2)
5. Snowden (Open Road) $4.1m 2,443/$1,697 avg. (week 2)
