"SIEMPRE EN MI MENTE": A SHRINE ON HOLLYWOOD BLVD.

The death of Juan Gabriel is but one of many painful losses music fans have suffered in 2016, but the passing of the Mexican-born, globally adored superstar is being keenly felt worldwide—as this shrine just down the street from our offices demonstrates. The Michoacán native, born Alberto Aguilera Valadez and known by his admirers as Juanga, left us on 8/28; the tribute on the Walk of Fame pictured here includes roses, candles, a flag, handwritten notes and even a concert T-shirt, among other offerings. One scribbled sign reads "Juan Gabriel: Siempre en Mi Mente": forever in my mind, citing the title of one of his best-known songs.

Juanga, who inked with RCA in 1971 and has sold 20m+ records, was preparing to celebrate 45 years in the business.
