He's already profoundly affected the way music is released and measured for the charts with Coloring Book, both as an independent artist and digital savant. Now superstar Chance the Rapper takes his pioneering efforts in another direction, to the ultimate gatekeepers: commercial radio airplay.
As we know, Chancelor Bennett comes from a long line of community organizers in Chicago and has recently led his own brand of grassroots social change there. But the new effort is national— and for his music.
The radio is like a huge listening party for people of all demographics to get in tune. In those moments it's mad ppl in harmony #optioncee

To climb this mountain, Chance launched a website Tuesday called RapperRadio.com, which gives fans who love his music the opportunity to let local radio know in the most direct way possible: social media mentions. It's also a metric the Terrestrial Giants will all respond to. The site includes the Twitter handles of the PDs and MDs themselves (*snaps*). It's insanely brilliant and rooted in kickass community organizing.
Since the national fan activation, the response has been nearly immediate from FM radio— light-speed for them, quite frankly— but watching the joint effort online with fans giving real-time reports back to Chance who then retweets all the awesome new radio support, has been truly inspiring to see. Musicheads unite!
