SOUNDING OUT DOLLIMORE'S ROLE

On the heels of the Sony U.K.-Ministry of Sound deal comes word from Sony labels in the U.S. that MOS MD Dave Dollimore may play an expanded, significant role as the two companies realign themselves.

Dollimore, who reportedly has a small equity stake in MOS, has been a much sought-after exec by U.K. majors over the last three years. He began at the very bottom of MOS in 2000; by 2007 he was head of A&R, signing and/or squiring some of the label's most successful projects, including Benny Benassi, Eric Prydz, Example and London Grammar, not to mention riding herd on the label's smash series of compilations. He was promoted to MD by CEO Lohan Presencer in 2010.

Inquiring minds want to know what Jason Iley has in mind for Dollimore’s role, and just how involved Rob Stringer has been in helping to make this deal to bring him into the Sony U.K. world. Stringer was reportedly instrumental in helping bring Iley to Doug Morris’ U.K. division just two years ago.
