CAT STEVENS TO CELEBRATE 50TH ANNI WITH U.S. TOUR (UPDATE)

Many of us crossed a line item off our bucket lists when Yusuf / Cat Stevens toured in 2004, playing songs from his great A&M albums such as Tea for the Tillerman and Mona Bone Jakon. He’s returning to the road this fall with a show titled A Cat’s Attic, a limited run of “stripped-down, introspective performances” that coincides with the 50th anniversary of his first single release, “I Love My Dog.”

Stevens has announced a fan club pre-sale that starts Thursday; tickets go on sale 8/15. The tour stops are Toronto (9/12), Philadelphia (9/15), Boston (9/17), New York (9/19 and 20), D.C. (9/22), Nashville (9/27), Chicago (9/10), San Francisco (10/3) and Los Angeles (10/6&7), where he will play the Pantages.

A portion of every ticket will go toward his U.K. charity Through Small Kindness, and donations will be made to UNICEF and International Rescue Committee to help children affected by the current refugee crisis.

Stevens will also be playing the Global Citizens Festival in New York 9/24 on a bill with Metallica and Eddie Vedder, who has long performed Stevens’ tunes such as “Trouble” in concert.

In case you have never heard “I Love My Dog,” here it is:
