DEF JAM UPS 2 IN URBAN PROMO DEPT.

Def Jam Recordings has promoted Bill Evans and Natina Nimene in the label’s Urban Promotion department. Evans has been upped to SVP and will oversee Urban Promotion initiatives at radio, in addition to overseeing the field staff. Nimene will help manage and support the national field staff, and work with Evans to orchestrate new release roll-outs.

Evans will report directly to Rodney Shealey, Executive Vice President, Urban Promotion, Def Jam Recordings, who made the announcement. Evans is Nimene’s boss. Both are based in New York.

“I’m extremely proud of both Bill and Natina,” Shealey said. “They have both been an integral part of the success of this promotion team and Def Jam as a whole. Their commitment to Def Jam’s artists, culture, and the radio community is unparalleled.”

Evans, who joined Def Jam in 1998, has been VP, Urban Promotion, since 2014. Nimene, a former Virgin Records executive, joined the Urban Promotion staff as Northeast Director in 2012, and was promoted to National Director two years later.

“It is an honor to be a part of a team of innovative leaders like Steve Bartels and Rodney Shealey,” Evans said. “They have afforded me the opportunity to be an integral part of Def Jam Recordings, a company with a rich history of brilliant and accomplished artists and employees.”

Nimene thanked Bartels and Shealey, too, noting, “I started my career 11 years ago with Rodney Shealey, so this opportunity is reflective of his mentorship and leadership.”
