In between tweet storms this weekend, Kanye West found the time to call BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac for a wide ranging conversation that will be broadcast Monday (8/1) during Annie’s show.
During the chat, Kanye wandered in and out of third person and sometimes into completely other stories to make his point, but continued to hammer home his message about a relentless passion for design, wanting to create more affordable Adidas shoes and collaborate with Swedish furniture maker IKEA on dorm-room furniture. You can't make this stuff up.
Never one to shy away from public offers for design gigs, West went in during the interview saying, "Yo IKEA, allow Kanye to create, allow him to make this thing."
The superstar also discussed how his perfectionist nature resulted in being "in a slightly depressed state" about forgetting some lyrics during the summer's Glastonbury performance, telling Annie, "When that music messed up in the beginning it tapped into my nerves.”
But when quizzed about his desire to become President, West got philosophical. "When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views; I don’t have views on politics, I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth," he said.
"If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day, to somehow make a difference while I’m alive I’m going to try to do it.”
