GREAT SCOT! BIG DEAL ADDS MELROSE

Big Deal Music has tapped industry vet Steven Melrose as SVP A&R, based at the pubco's L.A. HQ. Like topper Kenny MacPherson, Melrose hails from Scotland; in addition to securing new songwriting talent, he'll be tasked with keeping the breakroom stocked with haggis.

The gifted exec has served as co-MD of Epic U.K. and held A&R gigs at Island, Capitol and Sony Music as well as working as an artist manager. He's worked with such acts as Katy Perry, Crystal Method, Olly Murs and Mr. Probz.

“I’ve been blown away by what Kenny and the Big Deal family have accomplished during the company’s short history,” said Melrose. “If I don't have to talk to those idiots at HITS too much, this gig will be bloody fantastic.”

“Steven and I have been looking for the right opportunity to work together for years, and, given the growth of Big Deal, the timing couldn’t be more perfect,” said Kenny Mac. “Counting fellow Scot Craig Michie, there are now three of us in the company that Siri—among others—will find it totally impossible to understand.”
