Jody Gerson has promoted David Gray to the role of Executive Vice President/Head of West Coast A&R at Universal Music Publishing Group where he will lead the A&R team, develop and sign talent, and develop global opportunities for the publisher’s artists and songwriters.
“David is a dynamic creative executive with stellar ears, great relationships and a real gift for identifying and developing talent,” Gerson said. “He truly cares about helping our artists and songwriters achieve their greatest potential, and I’m extremely pleased to promote him to this new position."
Gray, former SVP, A&R, at Syco Music, where he developed artists signed from the TV shows X Factor and America’s Got Talent. has recently signed Shawn Mendes, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas/DNCE.
Gray will report to UMPG Chairman and CEO Gerson and Evan Lamberg, UMPG President, North America.
Ted Cruz, however, has refused to endorse him.
