CHART STORY: VIEWS IS BACK ON TOP
Did you miss him? We know you did. YMCMB/Republic’s Drake has officially returned to the top of the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart for a tenth non-consecutive week, following a brief stint at #2 (thanks to the release of blink-182’s California on BMG). Views earns back the throne with another 88k. Meanwhile on the Album Sales Chart, TDE/Interscope’s ScHoolboy Q debuts at #1 with 52k for his fourth studio album, Blank Face LP.
In fact, the Top 3 on the latter chart is made entirely of debuts, as Chevelle’s The North Corridor (Epic) appears at #2 with 31k and Switchfoot’s Where the Light Shines Through (Vanguard) appears at #3 with 26k. At SPS, however, they land at #9 and #10, respectively.
Sticking with SPS, Rihanna’s ANTI (Westbury Road/Roc Nation)—another streaming monster—climbs back into the Top 5.
Speaking of monsters, we just had a nice chat with two life-sized Elmo muppets, and we’re not sure if that’s because our offices recently relocated to Hollywood Blvd. or if the weed we just hit is just really strong.
Powered in part by a $7.99 sale at iTunes, three RCA acts see nice bumps; Sia’s This Is Acting leaps #15-11, Bryson Tiller’s T R A P S O U L re-enters the Top 15 and G-Eazy’s When It’s Dark Out goes #34-20.
Drake’s 2011 set, Take Care (YMCMB/Republic), which was also discounted at $7.99, re-enters the SPS chart #44.
Streeting this week are albums from MDDN’s Good Charlotte, Dot/BMLG’s Steven Tyler, Five Seven’s The Dirty Heads, Rhino’s Jeff Beck and Interscope’s Dreezy, as well as the 32nd edition of Kidz Bop—out via Razor & Tie.
