In a shocker, Laurent Hubert has decided to step down as President Marketing & Creative at BMG after playing that role for the company since its inception in 2009. He submitted his resignation this morning. Zach Katz (who was upped to head of all creative teams for U.S. publishing early this year) has been tapped to succeed Hubert.
“Laurent Hubert’s contribution to the growth of BMG has been phenomenal,” said BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch in the announcement. “Under him, our team in the U.S. has grown from literally zero to 170 people, our revenues have grown from virtually nothing to over a quarter of a billion dollars. He is an exceptional dealmaker and strategist, and the whole BMG team today salutes him.”
Ironically, the news comes on the eve of what is expected to be a chart-topping week for BMG resulting from last Friday’s release of Blink-182’s comeback album, California.
