CHRYSALIS REBOUNDS WITH FOUR WMG ACQUISITIONS

The newly relaunched Chrysalis Records has acquired the catalogues of Suzi Quatro, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Athlete from Warner.

It’s the first acquisitions since Blue Raincoat purchased the Chrysalis imprint from Warner, restoring original co-founder Chris Wright and Jeremy Lascelles to the helm, alongside Sade producer Robin Millar CBE.

Included in the deals are Quatro’s RAK recordings across seven albums, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel’s EMI recordings over three albums, Fun Lovin’ Criminals’ first four albums and Athlete’s first three. The material, that has gone through Miles Leonard's Parlophone imprint after WMG's purchase of EMI, will now be reissued and repackaged under the Chrysalis banner.

“We have been talking to all four of these artists for some time, and it’s a real thrill to be able to welcome them all, with their wonderful bodies of work, on to the Chrysalis Records label,” said CEP Lascalles. “Each one of them, in their different ways, captured the spirit of their respective times and wrote absolute classic songs. It’s fantastic to have what are arguably their most important recordings on Chrysalis, and we look forward to doing justice to this great music.”

Added Blue Raincoat Chairman Millar: “We want brilliant people and their brilliant music to find a proper home that befits their status and their art. Jeremy and I intend to reimagine great heritage artists for the modern music marketplace."
