KANYE'S "FAMOUS" VIDEO PROVOKES, TITILLATES

Kanye West felt so strongly about the video he created for "Famous" from The Life of Pablo that he threw not one but two parties Friday night at the Forum to premiere it, just before the clip went up as a Tidal exclusive. Tidal also livestreamed the event.

If Ye was trying to get a rise out of the media with the eight-minute piece, he succeeded; Rolling Stone, for one, described the “Famous” short film as “the most provocative, controversial video of West's career thus far.”

The premise has Kanye & Kim pulling a John & Yoko, but this bed-in involves lifelike, presumably synthetic figures of celebs including Rihanna and Chris Brown, Caitlyn Jenner, Anna Wintour, Donald Trump, Bill Cosby, George W. Bush and, of course, Taylor Swift, about whom Ye trash-talks in his rap.

As the RS story points out, the video is an homage to the Vincent Desiderio painting "Sleep" (below).

On a related subject, Tidal is also teasing another exclusive—the 20th anniversary edition of Jay Z’s Reasonable Doubt.

The service has begun requiring credit-card info for its 30-day free trial.
