ALL HAIL SIR LUCIAN

UMG topper Lucian Grainge today received a knighthood from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as part of her 90th Birthday Honours (we have to use the U.K. spelling) list. The knighthood was conferred in recognition of his achievements in the music industry "and his leadership through its challenging times." His contribution to British business and innovative expansion of UMG's global presence were also noted.

“It is with enormous pride that I receive this honour from Her Majesty the Queen,” declared Grainge (who holds a CBE from the Crown). “It is a recognition of British music’s significance to the U.K.’s culture and economy, its role in inspiring investment, and the contribution of incredible creative talent from around the world.”

Her Majesty also noted that she would like to meet Drake.
