DWORKIN GOES DIGITAL FOR UMG

Jonathan Dworkin, formerly Chief Marketing Officer at MixRadio, has been appointed Senior Vice President of Digital Strategy and Business Development for Universal Music Group. He starts 5/16 and will report to Michael Nash, EVP of Digital Strategy.

Dworkin’s job is to develop digital strategy, cultivate partnerships and advance biz div globally. He is specifically responsible for overseeing integration of Universal Music’s digital strategy throughout its international organization.Also, he's been charged with figuring out how to keep junior staff from surfing up porn.

“With Jonathan, we’re adding an executive with tremendous experience working with both established and developing music services in markets around the world,” Nash said, adding, "I hope someday to learn what he actually does."

Dworkin has more than two decades of music industry experience. Prior to his MixRadio gig, he led digital strategy and business development for Warner Music Group, helping lead Warner Music in its transition to streaming. Dworkin led Warners’ acquisition of Topsify and negotiated the industry’s first major-label deal with Soundcloud.

Early in his career he launched a management company that boasted J Dilla and Pete Rock as clients. He then went by the rap handle D-Workin.
