LIVE NATION CONCERTS GO VR WITH HULU

Live Nation is teaming with Hulu to create “a specially curated virtual reality concert performance series from today’s most popular artists” that will be available through the Hulu app.

Hulu made the announcement Wednesday during its NewFront presentation in New York City. They did not give a time frame for the series launch.

“Live Nation is dedicated to bringing the live entertainment experience to fans in new and innovative ways,” Jordan Zachary, Live Nation’s Chief Strategy Officer, said in a statement. “No medium has the potential to bring the magic of a live concert to life more than virtual reality.”

Features of the VR experience include allowing viewers to walk on stage with performers, hang out with artists before shows and park themselves in the best seats in the house.

Hulu launched its VR app in March and is projecting an audience of 12m subscribers by June.

In other music news at Hulu, the service will stream Ron Howard’s feature documentary The Beatles: Eight Days A Week in the fall.
